About WMO, it’s Youth Wing & the Convention

 

Introduction
WMO, Youth Wing Pakistan Chapter is formed with a vision to empower Memon youth and provide them with a platform to nurture their capabilities and get trained to hold the reins for the future leadership. It was formed in 2008, and with in a span of a year it has remarkable achievements.

Youth Wing along with their dynamic chairman comprises of young and dynamic youth of Memon community, a group of devoted youth with a vigor and spirit of voluntary service for the betterment of the community and strengthen the core missions of their parent umbrella body, the

Launch of an Independent Website of WMO Youth Wing
 
To enhance the communication, need of launching of an independent website for WMO youth wing was realized and on 15th of August, it was launched formally. The URL is www.wmoyouth.com
 
In this new era of rapid communication, Youth Wing is ready for all the upcoming challenges in communication, which could come in the near future, as WMO Youth Wing will enhance its influence. The dynamic team tries to update all the latest information at its earliest.
 
WMO Youth Convention
 
As part of its numerous endeavors, the Youth Wing held the first ever WMO Memon Youth Convention, with the theme “Panjho Mustaqbil Kuro” (What is our future?), VISION 2015, on Saturday, the 15th of August 2009 at City Sports Complex, Kashmir Road, Karachi at 7 p.m., where about 5000 persons attended the program.
 
It was a big challenge in the prevailing situation of the country and especially Karachi, with all the security hazards. By the grace of Almighty Allah and under the guidance of all the visionary leaders of WMO PC, the program succeeded. It was a benchmark in the history of Memon community, where a convention was organized for Memon youth.
 
The theme of the convention was ‘Panjho Mustaqbil Kuro’ (What is our Future). Papers on topics Memon Identity, Education, Peace, Economy and Social & Welfare Activities were presented by renowned personalities.
 
Mr Amin Chapal consented to be the chief guest of the program. The program was hosted by Mr. Junaid Iqbal, renowned TV compere, along with Council Member, Miss Hina Yahya. The program started with welcome speech by Mr. Abdul Razzak Yaqoob, President of WMO. It was followed by a speech by Mr. Shoaib Ismail Mangroria, Vice President, WMO (Pakistan Chapter). Besides, Mr. Pir Muhammad Kaliya, Secretary General, WMO and Mr H.M. Shahzad, Secretary General (WMO Pakistan Chapter), Mr. Mr Ahmed Chinoy, President APMF, Mr. Ashraf Machiara, Mr. Amir Kothawala and many other distinguished guests attended the Convention.
 
Mr. Yasin G.M. Chairman, Youth Wing, in his speech highlighted the aims and objectives of WMO, the Youth Wing and the Convention.
 
The convention had on its agenda Speeches by renowned personalities of the Memon community on key topics and issues facing the Memon community. They were Memon Identity & Language by Mr. Bashir Jumma, Education by Mr. Abdullah Dadabhoy, Economy by Mr. Arif Habib, Social Welfare by Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Billoo and Leaders of Tomorrow by Mr. Saleem Rangoonwala.
 
The convention also included Presentations by the Council Members of Youth Wing on various topics including Memon Identity by Asif Yahya, Education by Arsalan Nara and Waqar Mamdani, Economics by Miss Sumera Muhammad and Ahmed Motiwala and Peace by Saad Saleem.
 
This grand Youth Convention which was covered by ARY Digital TV as a media partner not only showed the potential and efforts of Youth Wing but also provided a platform where members of Memon community realized the services of WMO for the uplift of the community.
 
Formation of Youth Volunteer Corps
 
Memon Voluntary Youth Corps will provide a platform for Memon youth for social services and also train them for social work. Around 3,000 volunteers are already on our rolls for future endeavours.
 
Cricket Open Trials & Tournaments for Young Memons
 
This is a unique idea in which the Youth Wing has started working. The idea is to provide sports opportunities, along with training.
 
The WMO Youth Wing had arranged Cricket Open Trials on two different occasions to select 10 teams of talented cricketers. The cricket teams were selected by a fair procedure in which Mr Aftab Baloch, who is the selector of PCB, provided his voluntary services. A team called WMO XI will be chosen which will be further groomed to a world class Memon team which can represent the community in International Cricket
 
A grand cricket tournament is being planned to be held in the coming few weeks.
 
Upcoming CAREER FAIR 2009 -10
 
The enthusiastic and committed members of the Youth Wing are again planning a visionary program called the Career Fair 2009-10. The idea is to provide awareness of the existing educational programs and prospective career opportunities. This will create ample awareness among the budding youth and provide food for thought along with guidance and counseling in their chosen respective fields.
 
The objective of the Career Fair it to provide a common platform where young individuals will learn about various career options available to them, seek career guidance from professionals working in different capacities, submit their resumes and also learn about professional degree programs in various universities and institutes.
 
It will provide the Memon youth with an efficient opportunity to meet their future employers and leaders in industry, education or services to meet a large number of other students and job applicants and survey their resumes / to understand a large number of job seeking opportunities to go abroad for further studies, availing jobs or immigration/to reach out to students seeking guidance for achieving higher professional education. It also will enable them to network with other employers/consultants/universities as well as promote them in a large public forum and gain informational material for future use.
