Education is the key to alleviation of poverty and misery.
As the saying goes… “If you give a man a fish, you feed
him for a day. If you teach him to fish, you feed him for
lifetime.”
The aim of WMO Pakistan Chapter is to make sure that every
single member of the Memon community is educated. For this
purpose, a giant project has been started at the WMO Pakistan
Chapter in the name of “EDUCATION FOR ALL”.
Under the EDUCATION FOR ALL Scheme, about 7,500 school-going
students (up to Intermediate Level) are given financial
aid. A quarterly cheque is sent to each of the 700 schools
to pay the fees for the numerous Memon children studying
there.
We have many kinds of categories in the EDUCATION FOR ALL
Scheme. The first is where each child is paid Rs.18,000/-
(US $200) per annum to cover much of the tuition fees incurred
per annum.
The second category consists of those students who are
studying in Intermediate Leve are given up to Rs. 30,000/-
(US $ 335) wherea Students of Cambridge Level are given
up to Rs.50,000/-. (US $550).
The third category is for the Special Children where financial
aid for education is granted up to Rs. 75,000/- (US $835)
per annum.
Many Educational Institutions and Memon Jamats are now
'Education Partners' with WMO Pakistan Chapter.
Educational Scholarships under this scheme include monthly
tuition fees only. These scholarships are from Zakat Fund
and are only for deserving students of the Memon community
studying in KG to Intermediate.
