| ACTIVITIES OF THE LADIES
WING, WMO PAKISTAN CHAPTER, |

| New Chairperson, Mrs.
Hawa Abdullah has taken Charge of WMO-Ladies Wing from
June 2009. There have been major changes in the structure
of WMO Ladies Wing under motto to work with team building
and bring socio-economic reforms in the community. |

| Young women endowed with
talents, energy and character are being motivated to
devote their energies and time for social work. |
| |
| Responsibilities have
been divided and separate Divisions, as under, have
been formed for Effective Planning and Implementation:-

Membership
Division Head: Mrs.
Hawa Abdullah

| Responsibilities: |
1. to create
awareness to use WMO platform for match making.
2. to compile the data of applicants and keep them confidential
3. to review the data and do the match-making
4. to arrange get-together events for the purpose. |
Zakat / Dowry
Division Head: Mrs.
Shamim Tahir

| Responsibilities: |
1. to collect zakat
2. to keep records of the zakat disbursement |

Entertainment
division Head: Mrs.
Tabassum A. Qadir
|
| Responsibilities
: |
1. to plan
and organize entertainments events for families
2. to provide a platform for social interaction |
Entrepreneurship
Development Division
Head: Mrs. Amina Ganny |
| Responsibilities
: |
1. To promote women’s
entrepreneurial initiative through micro credit loans
to women and to help them start or expand businesses.
2. Increase womens’ income levels leading to economic
independence.
3. Vocational training for women applicants at MITI
and skill development
4. Plan local and international exhibitions to promote
women entrepreneurs of the community to work together
and build networks.

| Every 2 months, events
are being organized to promote each division. First,
such event was under “Entertainment Division” which
was a Movie Night during Eid. The Event was under the
motto “ENTERTAINMENT WITH A PURPOSE”. It was a self-funded
event. |

| Participants were given
gift packs, WMO Membership Form and CD of WMO as part
of Membership Drive and 250 ladies have shown interest
to become members. |

| All the participants
enjoyed the evening and requested WMO Ladies Wing to
arrange more events under this theme. |

| Mrs. Tabassum A. Qadir
being the entertainment and event management head organized
the event with help of her team members. |
| |
| The 2nd event was under
the Entrepreneurship Development Division. It was a
one-day exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, food items
and herbal products made by women of our Memon Community.
The Exhibition which was held on 21st November 2009
at Rangoonwala Community Centre was to provide an opportunity
to small entrepreneurs to display their products and
sell the products directly to the consumers. |

| Sixty stalls were booked
where ladies displayed their goods which included dress
material, ready-made dresses, 3 piece suits, linen bed
sheets, flowers, candles, handicrafts, jewelry, cosmetics
, sherbat, fried onions, home-made masala, pappad, plastic
goods, etc. Separate area was provided for eatables
with a variety of menu, and it did a roaring business.

| Except for nominal table
charges, all the expenses were borne by the WMO’s Ladies
Wing. There was no entrance fee. It was an exclusive
ladies function. Every hour, there was a Lucky Draw,
which proved to be a huge attraction. Expensive gifts
were provided by the members of the Ladies Wing. |

| Mrs. Amina Gany being
the head of Entrepreneurship Development organized the
event with help of her team members. Registration of
tables and marketing was mutually done by the Ladies
Wing. |

| For large scale Entrepreneurs
a Fashion Expo is being planned under name of “SHINE
2010” – Fashion for Compassion. Its First Edition will
be launched locally as a unique fashion event merged
with style and social responsibility. It will be a kind
of Exhibition where stalls will be provided to prominent
Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs of our community
to show case and sell their products. |
